When you give to the church, what happens to the money? Your monetary offerings are put to work! A portion of your money goes to work paying the church's bills (like the electric bills, copy equipment and supplies, salaries, you get the idea, right?). A portion of your money goes to work funding the various ministries and missions the church cares about (like Hope Park, Eastpoint youth program, GLOW, etc.). A portion of your money goes to work helping others in the community when they have an unexpected emergency (like a sudden job loss or fire) and they need a helping hand with rent or food. A portion of your money also goes to work funding various global outreach programs, like helping in the USA or another country that has experienced an earthquake or flood (we in Florida DEFINITELY get this).
So, can you see where the word "Apportionment" comes from?
Maybe this will help...Part of our gifts to God go to work as "A Portion Meant for Others" beyond our little slice of heaven here at SGI. It's a way of extending our Christian reach to the world.
